Over the decades and centuries there have been attempts to conceal failures, attempts to pretty-up the image of the powerful, the wealthy and those that societies and nations have deemed as “important” and “influential”. The “great man” approach to history and to leadership has led to the mythologizing of people who never did deserve to be credited with fame, with fortune, and especially with glorious accolades and prestige.
