The Peculiar Case of “Doctor” Colin Ross Cover-ups are rarely beneficial to the world. Over the decades and centuries there have been attempts to conceal failures, attempts to pretty-up the image of the powerful, the wealthy and those that societies and nations have deemed as “important” and “influential”. The “great man” approach to history and to leadership has led to the mythologizing of people who never did deserve to be credited with fame, with fortune, and especially with glorious accolades and prestige. Our histories are full of the white-washing of national leaders, those with power and those with influence and even just those who are famous over the years. Unfortunately there is another level on which cover-ups occur. They are institutionalized as part and parcel of individual organizations and usually appear to be done as a matter of course to keep the prestige of various professions untarnished and squeaky clean (as much as humanly possible at least).
